Biografie

Conrad Shawcross is an artist who lives and works in London. He received his B.A. in Fine Art in 1999 from the Ruskin School of Art, Oxford, and his Master of Fine Arts in 2001 from the Slade School of Art, University College, London. His interest lies in the creation of sculptures, which explore subjects that lie on the borders of geometry, philosophy, and physics and are inspired by both nautical and audio-visual technologies and different natural forces. Recently, Shawcross has begun to experiment with ideal geometries and topologies. He has had solo-exhibitions at Location One, New York (Control, 2009), and Jenaer Kunstverein, Germany (Light Perpetual, 2008) and was shown by institutions such as The Saatchi Gallery (New Blood, 2004) and Musee d'art Contemporain, Lyon (Rendez-vous, 2008). He is currently Artist in Residence at the Science Museum, London.
